Privacy Policy
Last Updated: April 2026
"Deely Notes" provides a web application that generates structured notes (key points) from YouTube videos. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share your information in compliance with GDPR (EU) and other applicable data protection laws, including privacy protections for users in the United States.
1. Information We Collect
We collect personal data only when necessary to provide the Service:
Account Information: Your email address and basic profile data required to create and manage your account.
YouTube Data & Content: When you provide a YouTube URL, we process the video’s public metadata and audio/transcript via third-party APIs to generate summaries. We do not store the original video files on our servers.
Payment Information: When you make a purchase, your billing details (e.g., name, email, payment method) are collected and processed by our payment partner, Creem. We do not store or have access to your full credit card details.
Analytics Data: We use Google Analytics to collect anonymized information about website usage (e.g., device type, browser, country). This data is used solely to improve performance and is typically retained for 14 months.
2. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), we process your data based on the following:
- Contractual Necessity: Processing account email and payment data to provide the Service and manage your subscription.
- Consent: Using analytics cookies for website improvement (provided via your opt-in).
- Legitimate Interests: Improving our Service and ensuring security, provided these interests do not override your fundamental rights.
For users in the U.S., processing is based on contractual necessity, legitimate interests, and consent where required by applicable law.
3. Payment Processing & Merchant of Record
Payments are processed by Creem, our Merchant of Record. When you purchase a subscription, you are entering into a financial transaction with Creem.
Creem handles your billing information directly and is responsible for tax collection (such as VAT/Sales Tax) and payment security. We do not store or access your full payment details. For information on how your data is handled during the transaction, please review Creem’s Privacy Policy.
For our records, we only receive limited transaction data (e.g., your email, date of transaction, and the plan purchased) to enable your access to the Service.
4. Cookies and Tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to understand user interaction and improve site performance:
- Consent: Upon your first visit, a cookie banner will ask for your consent to use non-essential cookies. Analytics cookies are only activated if you accept.
- Control: You can manage your preferences through the cookie banner. You may also withdraw your consent at any time by clearing your browser cookies or adjusting your browser’s privacy settings.
5. How We Use Your Information
We use collected data solely to:
- Provide the Service and manage your account.
- Facilitate secure payment processing via our Merchant of Record.
- Monitor website performance and improve usability.
- Fulfill legal and tax obligations. We do not use your data for advertising, remarketing, profiling, or third-party promotions.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell or rent your personal data. Data is only shared with trusted service providers to ensure functionality:
- Creem (Merchant of Record): To process transactions, manage taxes, and prevent fraud.
- Google: In anonymized form for usage statistics (with IP anonymization enabled). All sharing is strictly limited to service delivery. International data transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your region (e.g., GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, and to withdraw consent at any time.
If you wish to delete your account or access your account data, please contact us at support@deelynotes.com. For inquiries regarding your personal payment data, as we do not store it ourselves, requests should be directed to Creem.
8. Data Retention
We retain account information (email) only as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, this data is removed from our databases.
All billing information is retained by Creem according to their legal and regulatory obligations. Anonymized analytics data is retained for up to 14 months and does not identify individual users.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. All changes will be published on this page and take effect immediately. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
